Padraig Harrington has become the first Irish winner of The Open Championship since Fred Daly in 1947. He clinched the title in nail-biting fashion in a four-hole play-off with Sergio Garcia of Spain at the Carnoustie Golf Club in Scotland.

All those associated with HSPSE would like to congratluate the popular Irishman on this historic win. Padraig has long been a believer of Harold Swash's Putting Fundamentals and the work they have done over the years held him in good stead as he made crucial putts on the 1st and 4th play off holes to get his hands on the coveted claret jug.

In an emotional interview Padriag told BBC TV 'Obviously I've come a long way. When I turned pro I'd have settled for being a good journeyman golfer. It's been great being named as someone who could win a major but that brings its own pressure. I''m sure there's a hell of a party (in Ireland) now and I know I don't have anything to do for two-and-a-half days so I'm going to party on."
