C-GROOVE - CUSTOM FITTING

The Yes Golf C-Groove Putter is designed by HSPSE's Harold Swash . It make sense then if you want a 'custom fittedt' c groove putter, you need to come to HSPSE to get the fitted by the experts.

In the age where custom fit irons and drivers are commonplace, golfers are now appreciating the importance of a custom fitted putter. When putting accounts for approx 45% of your score it makes sense to make sure it is set up maximise YOUR stroke.

At HSPSE we use state of the art equipment to help us custom fit the putter of your choice:-

• Biomechanic's Software for putting stroke and ball roll analysis
• SAM Analysis System
• Lie and length assessment tool
• Mitchell Tour Gauge for loft and lie amendments

We offer 2 types of fitting dependant on what your requirements are:

Constraint Fitting

If you want to be fitted for a putter that will help you develop the most efficient stroke and improve your mechanics then we recommend you come for a constraint fitting. This forms part of any instructional package we offer at HSPSE.

Alongside high class instruction we will evaluate the specifcation of the putter you need. Such a fitting will account for the correct:

•  Lie
•  Length
•  Loft
•  Putter Style
  Putter Balance

Ever wondered what effect overlooking such factors has?

1. Incorrect Length:

It's important for the golfer to stand to the ball with the proper posture. This is where the eyes fall directly over the ball to target line and where the proper putter length allows the golfer to have their arms hanging directly under the shoulders and the shoulder plane in the optimum position to minimise face rotation. If a putter is too long or too short it can cause error in the stroke path that in turn causes inaccuracy. The correct length to help constrain the individual into the correct posture will help create consistency in the stroke through improving distance and directional control.

David Howell at 6 ft 2 inches was fitted through the same procedure into a 33 inch putter. In fact shorter putters are commonplace on tour to encourage the correct biomechanics for putting. What length should you be?

2. Incorrect Lie:

The lie angle is a major factor in controlling the starting direction of the ball. If the toe of the putter is sticking up in the air, the ball can be pulled to the left. If the toe of the putter is down and the heel is up in the air, the ball will most likely be pushed to the right. An incorrect lie angle will also cause a slightly less solid hit and energy transfer which can lead to poor distance control.

3. Incorrect Loft:
The correct loft will help control the distance a putt is hit. Too much loft will cause the ball at impact to be launched off the ground then bounce and skid too along the green. Its difficult with the naked eye to see this bounce but it will make it harder to consistently control the distance your ball travels. Too little loft and you will compress the ball into the ground, which has the same negative side effects.

Special equipment can determine your putters ideal loft and whether or not your hands are ahead of the putter head at impact (de-lofting the putter) or if your hands are behind the putter head at impact (increasing the putters loft).

4. Incorrect weighting and balance
If a putter is cut short then the weight that is taken from the club needs to be replaced. It needs to be replaced however in a manner that will help promote the correct putter balance and feel.

A poorly weighted and balanced club can lead to poor accuracy and distance control through the negative effects on putting technique it can have. This is a an important consideration at HSPSE.

5. Incorrect Putter Style
Every putter head design type and style potentially can influence/help or even hinder a players putting potential.

For instance, a golfer who does not consistently hit the putt on or near the centre of the putter face would benefit dramatically from a putter design with a much bigger sweet spot or MOI (Moment of Inertia).

Also a certain style or feature can help the player align more accurately. Using specific analysis tools we are able to ascertain the correct putter for each individual.

Personalised Fitting

If you are happy with your own style of putting and would like to get fitted for a putter off YOUR choice to suit your stance, set up and stroke then we can pass on advise and amend:

•  Lie
•  Length
•  Loft

In both type of Fittings, alongside Video Analysis of Ball Roll and Technique, SAM Puttlab Analysis reports are created to evaluate the important paramaters of the putting stroke to ensure the putter you leave with is the correct to one.
